Getting Started in the ASRC Nanofab

Fill out the ASRC New User Form

To gain access to any of the ASRC facilities, you must fill out the new user form in formstack. This applies to all users, including CUNY users, external academic users, and industry users.

The approval process takes up to 7-10 days, after which you will receive an email letting you know you have been approved.

After Approval: Steps to gain access to the Nanofab

After your approval, you will need to take all of the following steps to be able to access the Nanofab. Each of these steps is important, and should be done in order.

  1. Apply for a Badger Account
    1. Download badger. (To run Badger, you’ll need to edit the Java Security Exception List (PDF).
    2. Click on New Member?
    3. Fill out the form and then set a password.
    4. Set the account number. Please remember to utilize the account number given by your PI on the form when registering for Badger.
  2. Complete the following (3) EHOS safety courses. Training is now on YouTube at the links below.
    1. EHOS Lab Safety Training
    2. Waste Management Training
    3. OSHA - Hazard Communication GHS & RTK
  3. Review the Lab Manuals and Policies.

    3. Policy for Suspension of Access and After-Hours Access
  4. Complete the Orientation Form
  5. Complete the Cleanroom Orientation. Orientation is conducted once a week in person by Salam Garaway. Users must sign-up for orientation by 12:00PM the day before the scheduled orientation.
  6. Contact the appropriate staff member to schedule tool training.
